Knitty's up Too!!

Don't you just love the beginning of a season? We get a change in our surrounding, cold weather gets warmer, hot weather get cooler. We also get a change in our knitting. With the arival of spring there are new patterns to keep us from actually knitting. Lighter weight yarns and projects are what we are looking for. I also tend to pick up crocheting in the summer months.

Right on cue, the spring/summer knitty.com is up.

I have to say I think it is a bit lite on projects I will want to knit. But there are some nice options to concider.

The most intriguing pattern is sporting a new knitting technique! Even my DH asked if there really could be a new way to knit something.

Wow, The New Twist Collective is Up

And is it wonderful. It has been a very long time since I looked through any magazine and wanted to knit up about half of it. This Collection in Twist Collective is just amazing.

We are starting the "Great American Aran Afghan" knit-a-Long this week. We are going to try to do a block every 3 or 4 weeks. These are squares that you can join into a full size afghan, or a smaller lap blanket, or a few pillows. This project can be as big or as small as you want it to be and to be done at your own rate so no pressure!

The first block this month is "Carol Adams". It is one of the easier ones. I am going to ease everyone in slowly.

Most of us are using Berocco Vintage (worsted). I love this yarn. It knits up so nice, feels squishy and is washable. The price is right too.

Join us!! If you can't start this month start as soon as you can.

What have I been Knitting?

I love January. It is such a quiet month. The house feels quiet after putting away all the christmas decorations. Outside feels quiet with the cooler weather. My knitting feels quiet after the mad dash to get everything done in time to mail and to put under the tree. My knitting is so quiet I am having a hard time finding something that I really want to knit. A bit of a stooper I would say.

Camera to the rescue. Time to take pictures of finished projects and show them off.

This Moment in Time

{this moment} - A Friday ritual (inspired by soulemama). A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

Yarn and Pattern Love

Twist Collective and Knitty

The Fall Online "magazines" are out. Even though we have a couple of months to go before So Cal feels like fall. I love it when the fall magazines come out. Let's face it, knitting is really a cold weather activity. There is something about getting all cozy with some tea, good music or a good audio book, a fire in the fireplace or candles lite around the room and knitting in ones hands that is "Heaven on Earth".

I do knit all summer and really enjoy sitting on my front porch with ice tea, the audio book and knitting. I probably spend more of my life in the second scenario then the first one. Once the patterns start showing up fall can't be that fair away, right?

Acorns by Carol Sunday

This is going to be high on my list to knit. I think this is such a lovely cardigan with just the right amount of interest done in such a flattering way.
