March to Eliminate UFO's

Happy Leap Day!

Today feels like the first normal day I have had since we made the decision to move last August. So what am I doing with this extra "normal" day of the year you ask?

Going through knitting stuff and coming up with crazy ideas that I want to share with you all.

I have gathered all of my unfinished projects (UFO's) together and find I have an issue. One that I know many of you share with me and I know it is all my fault because I am such a good enabler.

But fear not, I have come up with a solution!!

 "March to Eliminate UFO's"

Let's see how many of those projects we can complete over the next 31 days. You will be amazed at how close many of them are to being finished. Once I start doing this I always wonder why I didn't just "cast this one off" or "weave in these ends".

I count ten, yes that would be 10, UFO"S so far. I am sure there is one or more lurking some where and it will jump out at me just when I think I have this under control.

My stratagy is to tackle the ones closetst to finishing first. Case in point: these clogs just need to be felted and they are ready to warm my cold feet.

Instant gratification is the motivator here. Then with a new spring in my step, I will take on the half finished sweater, yes there is one of those in the group. It would be amazing to have all of these off my table by the end of the month. One of the projects is from the "unraveled days" for goodness sakes.

What? You don't want to face what is hiding from sight under your bed or in the corner of your closet? How about this?

    Let's Make it a Contest!!!!

For every project you finish I will put your name in the pot and I will give out 3 prizes next month.

The Rules: For those of you that love rules, you know who you are, here they are:

~ Add the "name of project and what you had to do to finish it" to the comment section     of this blog post. Only projects posted under this post will count.
Don't post you project under any other blog post. It won't count.

~ must have the project casted off by midnight March 31 and listed in the blog post to      count.

~ If you are so lucky to not have any UFO's hanging around congratulations. You can
cast on and finish as many porjects you want this month and add them. All casted on       projects need to use at least 100yrds of yarn. No little tiny dust bunnies.

~ If you want to post pics of your projects we would all love to see them. Post them to         our Ravelry group. It would be great to have conversations going on over there.
    So talk away!!

Yarn is the obviouse choice but I might surprise you.

So lets get those UFO's conquered and next month we can have a cast-on frenzy and not feel guilty!!

Of course you are doing t his for March!! That's because February was my month of finishing t hings! I blocked shawls and scarves, finished (and blocked) a couple of other shawls, frogged a couple of things that were going nowhere, and even finished sewing together and snipping 5 ragg quilts. Not to worry. I have several more PIGs (Projects in Bags) in both the knitting and quilting departments--oh, and an afghan to assemble, too. So I guess I'm in!

Post right here huh? ;) Hi Faylynn! xoxo

Well, these are my UFO's. Haven't been working on knitting, admittedly. (Then again, I've been... drawing a little.)

Alright, let's do this! Good luck, everyone!

Cat's Paw Scarf
-weave in and block

Cloche Enough Hat (still need help, ahaha, I forgot/don't know how to do it)

Hermione's Magic Bag (... )
-sides, felt, add strap

Lace&Cable Afghan scarf (heavily modified)
-finish test section, frog everything, reknit it with better instructions

Cerus Scarf (in fingering/lace weight yarn-- I don't expect to finish this in a month)
-over 80% of the knitting

That's a great list and doable you just need to stop that drawing thing you are doing.

I love, love, love rules, but the pressure, aackk! I have the Fluid Velocity Lace Shawl. I am halfway through the main body and then it needs a border. I have my afghan, but that has 240 stitches cast on and I've only knit 2 of the 9 skeins of yarn for it. I have the cuff done of the second sock of a cuff down pair and I have an afghani baby blanket. Yikes! I am going to be too busy to work.

Ok Debra first things first, this is just knitting and is the one area in your life you don't have to put pressure on yourself.

What ever progress you make will get you better off then you are now. You keep from casting on any stitches yarn until you have one UFO finished. Or is it too late for that?

Oh, lordy, do I have UFO's. I like rules and love to break them, but I'll be good. Here's my list:

Winnowing Shawl - I'm working on the border and have over 1/3 left to finish using the lovely new LOFT yarn from Brooklyn Tweed.

I have quite a bit of Herbavore left in Madelinetosh Vanilla Bean. Come to think of it, why haven't I finished this one? I have 2/3 of the body left to work.

The skinny Noro Striped Scarf - perfect for spring if I can get it done in time. This one uses Noro's Silk Garden Sock and tiny needles, but it's so cool. This one only needs about 1/8 th more or until I run out of yarn.

The Killington Scarf has a long way to go in DROPS delight sock yarn. I really only started, so roughly 3/4 left.

I probably shouldn't mention these, because there is NO WAY I can finish in time, but there is also the Kusha Kusha in thread-like Habu. I have 2/3 left at least.

I'll post any pics I have to ravelry. Such a fabulous idea FL. Wish me luck!

I know you can make a really good dent in your projects. I am so glad you are going to join us. You can put pics on the forum but list them back here.

Good Luck!

Ding Ding Ding! I finished the Winnowing Shawl. I put some blocking pictures on the ravelry group. I started the Drape Front Sweater - I wasn't supposed to do that until I finish more projects. Oh well.

Yeah!! Another one bites the dust!
I have two projects sitting within eyesight waiting for me to get some things done. They are my reward.

"CLOCHE ENOUGH" hat- need to crochet flower and sew it to finished hat.
"DROPS BABY SWEATER; Drops Extra 0-639 pattern-need to finish 2nd sleeve and 1 front; weave in ends. Gift for my friend Dorothy's first grandchild. I made a size 2 so he wouldn't out grow it before I finished. He was born in Jan 2012.

These are the easiest ones to find, there are sooo many more, somewhere in a bin. This is a GREAT idea, hats off to Fay Lynn for such a practical and fulfilling idea!!! I will try to find and finish more that won't get in the "contest".
